Text Diff is an in-browser text comparison tool. It highlights added, removed and unchanged lines between two texts using a classic LCS (longest common subsequence) algorithm — the same idea behind the Unix
How to Use This Tool
Step 1 — put the original text on the left and the modified text on the right, either by pasting or by clicking "Upload file". Step 2 — the difference preview below refreshes automatically: green rows are additions, red rows are deletions, white rows are unchanged, with line numbers on both sides. Step 3 — toggle "Ignore case", "Ignore whitespace" or "Ignore blank lines" above to focus on substantive changes. Step 4 — when the two inputs are identical the header shows "Texts are identical".

The diff is computed line by line with an O(n×m) dynamic-programming LCS. For very large inputs (hundreds of thousands of lines) the browser may become slow; in that case compare files in smaller chunks. The options only affect the comparison — the displayed text always keeps its original content, casing and whitespace. CRLF line endings are normalised to LF before comparison.
Privacy & Security
All comparison happens locally in your browser. Neither pasted text nor uploaded files are ever sent to any server, so you can safely compare confidential source code, contracts or personal documents.
